Cytat:
Beaumont, alias Michael Rintoul, is a young Scottish producer and creator of hypnotic R&B dream pop-soundtracks for late night bliss-outs. Described by inimitable Brighton- based blog 20jazzfunkgreats as having produced, “by a strike of genius and inspiration”, the authentic soundtrack to “a really cool Z-series 80s thriller”, Kinnego is proud to present his debut release, “Blush Response”.Opening track “Tokyo” sets the scene, a wistful night-time groove with almost dubstep intentions and layers of subtly building melody. “Foreign Intrigue” combines chillwave textures with heavy sub-bass and halftime drums into a sweetly composed piece of synth pop, full of Europhile yearning. “Aventurescence” is a talkbox-driven slowgroove that ends in waves of melodic synth bliss. “Lucky” returns to the atmospheric cityscape conjured by “Tokyo”, sounding like dubstep as made on a Fairlight in 1982, full of emotion and breathless invocations. The most overtly vocal track, “Midnight” seems to reference 80s Marvin Gaye with its drum machine and electronic piano palette and lovelorn emotional delivery. Recalling a more minimal Eurythmics, “Flesh + Blood” blends guitars and synthesized cellos into a desirous, heartbroken pop song for hopeless romantics. And closing the EP, title track “Blush Response” begins in layers of continental VHS hiss and jaunty melody before settling into a headnodding groove adorned with lush vocals and retriggered samples. A unique and immensely addictive debut from a very bright new talent.

Cytat:
If I were to ask you to sum electro music up with one word, 'beautiful' would probably be the very last word you came up with but it is perhaps the only word with which you can really describe the latest EP from Michael Rintoul, aka Beaumont.

By definition, electro music is not slow, not gentle and it certainly does not include harps but Blush Response is no typical electro EP. It is not one that breaks down the stereotypes of its genre so much as it completely rewrites the formula. Synths, beats and rhythms are all apparent but so too are handclaps, guitars, piano - hell, even grunge makes an appearance in the release!

Blush Response is one of the most fascinating pieces of electro you are ever likely to hear. Boasting both a vintage sheen and a nod to the future with more experimental influences than you will have likely heard before, the music is only really comparable to his label contemporary, Space Dimension Controller; something more subtle and significant that pure retro electro.
