So the myth of a new Y Society LP is confirmed. If you’re a Y fan go tell the world its coming. We just completed the (final) title track. The LP is 9 songs not including the intro. It sounds a bit more aggressive and slower/ less upbeat than our Travel debut. If you’re wondering why it took so long, we randomly worked throughout the last year doing a song here and there. Sight took his time and worked on other things until he was ready to record. No rush at all. All of the raw material is in my possession and the ball is in my court to mixdown (TONS OF WORK). After Grap is complete, I will finalize the new Y LP. One thing I’m debating is whether I should do another instrumental scratch track like “Peace I’m Out the Door”. At this time there isn’t one. It hit me the other day I should do one, but I don’t think its necessary. If one ends up on there, then I would’ve made my mind up after this post when you hear it. I’ve been bumpin the rough LP for the last week. I’m even rapping on it. Singing (with my frog voice) too haha. It’s dope!! The album title sums what you should expect. Some familiar samples, a lot of them! If this comes out in 2011, then on the 5th anniversary (2012) of Travel at Your Own Pace, I would like to put out a third Y album |

My next solo album. All new material from 2010 to present. At the moment I have about 60 instrumental tracks and counting. It will be released in its entirety. As mentioned previously, we originally planned to drop this in April, but decided to release Alexander Green. In the meantime, I’m going to keep working until I have over 100 tracks and ALL will be released in one package. That means probably boxed set vinyl and multiple cd release. Figured I should inform everyone now and with a project this large you’ll be prepared to pay more than the usual 1-2LP costs. It will be worth it and we want to make this release a big event.
Here’s a little insight on the album’s direction. There are dozens and dozens of beats (A few hours of music). I did change my sound (not style) drastically. There are no jazz samples (maybe 2), but very different from what people expect. There are no beats with echoing horns (maybe 2-3 I couldn’t resist). It was time to switch things up. Unfortunately I get called a “jazzy” producer etc. (which I hate and terms like “jazz hop” are not cool to me) based on my catalog to date. Spur Momento will hopefully lift any labels and other criticism attached to my music. I used more “current” sounding samples or what the masses seem to like nowadays and did it my way. Its darker, more aggressive, but not chaos. Synths, strings, noise, abstractions and everything Else will be heard. This is my “Axelrod” record. I’m taking a shot at some of my peers and “the new sound” of hip hop. If this talk makes you nervous, I know what you’re thinking. I did not compromise. It still sounds very much like me. Have no fear! When we’re ready, we’ll shed more light on this project. |
